Sheriff’s Department investigating Sunday morning shooting in the West Columbia area of the county
West Columbia, SC – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a gunshot that occurred early Sunday morning in the West Columbia area of the county.
The investigators believe that the man was shot inside a house on Sumter Street at about 5 a.m. Sumter Street is located between Sunset and Jarvis Klapman Boulevards in an older portion of the area. The unidentified man, reported to be in his late 50’s, was transported to a local medical facility with what could be life threatening injuries.
Investigators were on the scene of the shooting most of the day Sunday. They were interviewing potential witnesses and collecting physical evidence that will be used in court once the shooter is apprehended.
The sheriff’s department has not released the name or description of any suspect or suspects.
