Two fatalities now confirmed, one more seriously injured in Batesburg-Leesville wreck
Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – The SCDPS is now confirming two have died after two vehicles collided near the intersection of Summerland Avenue and Woodlark Drive in the Batesburg- Leesville area. The calls started coming into the county’s 911 center just before 3 p.m. Thursday.
First arriving units confirmed that there was someone still trapped in the carnage of the vehicles. After further investigation, they found that two had died as a result of the crash.
One patient was removed from the cars and transported by ground to the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department and was placed onboard a Lifenet helicopter for transport to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Another basic life support ambulance was requested by the first arriving crews to assist on the scene.
Law enforcement officers are currently on the scene assisting the coroner’s office with the preliminary investigation into the wreck.
