Chapin High School student selected for ACDA National Honor Choir
IRMO, SC - Chapin High School junior Jesse Kaiser has been selected to participate in the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA) National Honor Choir for their national convention in Minneapolis, MN held on March 8-11, 2017.
“It is truly an honor to have been accepted to this prestigious choir, where I will study under one of the biggest names in choral music,” said Kaiser. “I did not expect acceptance whatsoever. ACDA Southern Division was a tremendous experience; everything from traveling to and from the event to spending time and collaborating with such talented singers. It is amazing to work with other high school students of a like mind; those who share the same passion for music. I cannot wait to take that tremendous experience to the national level!”
Kaiser auditioned for the ACDA National Honor Choir and was selected out of 4,200 auditions. He will join 300 other high school singers who will make up the National High School Honor Choir. This ensemble will be conducted by composer and conductor Eric Whitacre, whose music is highly sought after by choirs all over the world.
“This is a tremendous honor for Jesse, the Chapin High School Choral Program and our District,” said Chapin High School Choral Director Nicholas Shumate. “There are few from South Carolina that audition for this, and even fewer that are selected for this high honor. This experience not only helps the student become a better musician and singer, but the experience itself impacts their lives tremendously. They have an opportunity to meet and connect with other high school students across the country. I am extremely proud of Jesse’s hard work and accomplishment!”
