Councilmember Ron Williams Named School Counselor Advocate of the Year

Lexington, SC - Town of Lexington Councilmember Ron Williams has received the Palmetto State School Counselor Association (PSSCA) School Counselor Advocate of the Year Award. Dr. Gregory D. Little, Superintendent of Lexington County School District One, presented Mr. Williams with the award during the town’s February council meeting.

Councilmember Williams is a volunteer at Lexington Elementary School, where he can be seen each morning making copies, greeting students, distributing weekend snack packs, participating in the Learner of the Pride Student Recognition Program and serving on the School’s Improvement Council.

Outside of LES, Councilmember Williams has spent most of his life doing community service with the Boy Scouts of America and is proud to serve the citizens of Lexington.

"As a school administrator for more than 19 years, I have never seen a non-parent volunteer work so hard to support my school's counseling program," LES Principal James H. Hamby said. "He has shown his confidence in our school counseling program by assisting with our Student Recognition Program, Weekend Snack Pack Program, Student Government and Career Week, as well as serving on the LES Guidance Advisory Board. He is a glowing example of true Volunteerism.”
