Silly’s Snoballs coming to Red Bank-White Knoll in April

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – Silly’s Snoballs, a locally owned and independent gourmet snoball shop, is planning to open a new location in the Red Bank-White Knoll area of Lexington County. The new store will be located at 1508 Old Orangeburg Road just off Platt Springs Road. This is across the street from the San Jose’s restaurant at the site of the old Allstate Insurance office property.

Silly’s original location has been open in South Congaree since last spring. It has been hugely popular because they offer more than just great snoballs. Silly’s provides a play area where children can enjoy their treats and play children’s games, frolic in a large sandbox, or run and stretch their legs while devouring their cool treats.

Steve Keaton, the owner of Silly’s who lives in South Congaree, opened his first store after looking at franchise opportunities with national chains. Keaton said recently that he preferred being an independent store so that he could be more flexible with his hours and the dates that he’s open. He also like to offer other amenities with Silly’s that franchises didn’t allow.

Silly’s serves what is known as New Orleans style shaved ice snoballs. Keaton uses all the same flavorings that the national chains do and offers literally hundreds of individual or combinations of flavors.

At Silly’s, you could enjoy plain coconut, cherry, banana, or sour apple, or you could mix it up by combining flavors, adding sweet cream, chocolate, or various candies and gummies. You can also add sour shots that will make you twist your face into a strange pucker. This usually has your snoball slurping companions howling with laughter!

Keaton said that the new location is opening after the demand for his treats in South Congaree grew rapidly. He also likes the fact that the new store will have room for more tables that can be reserved for birthday parties and special events, something he couldn’t do at the original store because of room limitations.

The play area expansion in Red Bank-White Knoll will allow him to add a few games for older kids and adults. He hopes to have horseshoe pits, more cornhole boards, and other fun things to do. He has even partnered with a bounce house firm to offer these as well as inflatable slides and other fun things to do at the request of party planners.

If you can’t wait for Silly’s to open in the spring, you can book Keaton’s mobile unit for your party or special event. Last summer, that unit was at Shumpert’s IGA many weekends offering people in the Pelion area access to the tasty treats without driving to another town for them. Keaton can be reached at (803) 622-5799.

Silly’s hopes to be ready to open at the new Red Bank-White Knoll location by April 1st and the South Congaree store is re-opening for the season in March. Most of the people we talked with said that Silly’s would be a welcome addition to the area that is growing daily.

The Red Bank-White Knoll grand opening will have lots of special events, contests, and prizes as their way of letting the community know they are glad they are a part of the business neighborhood. You can follow The Lexington Ledger for more details as the grand opening date approaches.

This year, you can even buy Silly’s gift cards for yourself or to give as a gift. A Silly’s card is reloadable and can be scanned each visit as payment for your treats. When you put $20 on your Silly’s card, you’ll automatically be given another $5.00 on the card for FREE!

Silly’s of White Knoll already has started a Facebook page to let you keep up with the progress they are making as they prepare to open. It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/Sillys-Snoballs-White-Knoll-720844288097203/?fref=ts. As a way to say thank you for LIKING and SHARING their Facebook page, everyone who LIKES and SHARES the Silly’s Snoballs White Knoll page between now and the grand opening date will be entered to win a FREE snoballs for a season card. The winner of the card will be entitled to a FREE regular snoball every time they visit for the entire first season!
