Joint Water and Sewer Commission building water line to improve service in the area near the Lexingt
Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) The Lexington County Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission is constructing a water main along Old Charleston Road that will improve utilities in the area.
According to Donna Peeler, spokesperson for the project, the new line consists of approximately 5,000 linear feet of 10-inch water main. It starts at Edmund Hwy. (SC Hwy 302) and runs along the edge of Old Charleston Rd. to the Lexington County Airport at Pelion. This is also where the county’s South Region Sheriff’s Headquarters and public safety complex is located.
The new line will upgrade water capacity and increase fire flow protection in the area. This could help open the county’s airport property for more use and future development.
According to Guy Schmoltze, commission engineer, the anticipated completion date for the project should be around April 1, 2017.
