Man charged with felony DUI involving death after interstate wreck
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The man who was driving a truck that crashed on I-20 near the 61-mile marker, killing the passenger, has now been charged with felony DUI resulting in a death by the SC Highway Patrol. The wreck happened around 1:17 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Vought Taylor, 29, of Lexington, was driving a GMC truck when it left the interstate and crashed into some trees. The truck’s passenger, Kari Grace Brown, 29, of Taylor, SC, had to be pried from the wreckage by firefighters. Brown was pronounced dead on the scene of the wreck.
Taylor was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the crash. At that point, he was arrested and charged by troopers who had suspected he was under the influence.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
