Overturned vehicle traps occupant near Chapin

Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) – An SUV overturned Monday night near the intersection of Harvest View Court and Olin Slice Road, trapping the occupant in the wreckage. The fire service was dispatched from the Chapin Station at about 9:00 p.m.

As the emergency crews arrived on the scene, they reported that the vehicle was overturned in the roadway. They requested assistance from the next closest county station, which immediately responded.

The firefighters used extrication tools to free the trapped patient which took them about 15 minutes. They then packaged the person and a unit from Lexington County EMS transported that patient to Palmetto Richland’s trauma center. That person’s condition has not been released.

Firefighters remained on the scene until a trooper arrived at the wreck. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the SCHP.
