One seriously injured in reported car versus scooter wreck Sunday afternoon near Pine Grove

Pine Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – A wreck that was reported to have been between a car versus a scooter seriously injured one Sunday afternoon. It occurred on Kitti Wake Drive near Laurel Road.

EMS personnel and firefighters responded from several locations across central Lexington County. This included an engine out of Pine Grove and the ladder truck from Oak Grove.

The crews from the first arriving units quickly closed the road to all traffic. This was done to protect the victims from further injuries, and themselves from passing motorists that might be watching the crash rather than where they were driving.

County Department of Public Safety personnel were assisted by sheriff’s deputies and troopers from the SC Highway Patrol.

Eventually, one seriously injured patient was transported to the trauma center at Palmetto Richland. A firefighter drove the EMS unit in so that that crew could focus on the patient’s care.

The SCHP has not disclosed who was at fault in the accident, or what, if any charges will be brought against the at fault driver.
