Sadly, Silly’s Red Bank on hold as new site sought
Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – The new Silly’s Snoballs that was slated to open in Red Bank in April is on hold after a problem with their land lease. This would have been the second Silly’s location after the first opened in South Congaree last summer.
According to Steve Keaton, the owner of Silly’s, he signed a lease on the Red Bank property knowing full well that the property was up for sale. In fact, it had been for sale for the past few years and no one had come close to offering anywhere near the asking price the owner wanted. The property’s owner was just interested in leasing short term until a buyer could be found.
Keaton said that the property’s owner was very honest and upfront when he signed the lease. “He told me that if someone met his asking price, he would let me have a chance to buy it first. Not long after I put our building there, someone made the owner the offer he was waiting on. At this point, it just didn’t make sense for my business to invest a large sum in the property.” Keaton went on to say that he had no hard feelings with the property owner. “Everything was above board and honest, and I understand completely why he did what he did, in fact he treated me very fairly.”
Keaton had already established a Facebook page for the Red Bank location and was offering FREE Silly’s SnoBalls certificate for one person drawn from everyone who liked that page by its grand opening. That certificate would be good for the entire 2017 season. “Because of the great response that we had when we announced we were coming to Red Bank, we are still going to offer that deal at our South Congaree store,” Keaton explained. Anyone who likes the Silly’s Snoball White Knoll Facebook page from now through April 1, will be eligible to win that deal.
The South Congaree Silly’s is already opening at 2:00 p.m. daily. It will begin to open earlier in the day once school is out. It is located at the intersection of Main Street and Ramblin Road in the center of the town.
Silly’s is well-known for their gourmet, New Orleans style, shaved ice snoball. They come in various sizes, hundreds of flavors, and exciting combinations. You can even add candies, sour powders, and gummies.
Additionally, Silly’s has solidified itself in the market with a children’s play area, a sandbox, cornhole boards, and special promotions at times that included bounce houses and other fun, exciting things for families to do. They also have a mobile unit so that they can come to you for a birthday party or other special occasions.
Keaton said that he would be happy to look at other locations in the Red Bank area if someone has a spot. “If the right opportunity comes along, we are coming back to Red Bank because the people in the area are great and welcomed our announcement there with open arms.
Keaton says he’s also open to any land in other areas of the county where people want a sweet treat and lots of fun. “We are planning on taking our concept to West Columbia, Lexington, and a number of other places. We know that we’ve been received well so far and look forward to making children and families happy all over!”
