Gaston man tries to evade capture by deputies on Fish Hatchery Road
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A 30-year-old Gaston man is under arrest after he tried to elude capture last night when law enforcement officers attempted to stop the vehicle he was driving. This all began near Fish Hatchery and Casa Dell Roads between Gaston and Edmund just after 9:00 p.m. last night.
According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, the suspect tried to elude the police after a law enforcement officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle he was operating near Kimmy Road and Rapha Residential Care where he fled on foot into a mobile home park. He was quickly apprehended by deputies and K-9 officers who searched that area for him.
After being taken into custody, Anthony Brandon Hodges, a longtime resident of the Gaston area, was booked into the county’s detention center on multiple charges. They include simple possession of marijuana, speeding in excess of 25 mph over the limit, being a habitual traffic offender and driving under suspension, having a defective tail light, and on an open bench warrant from the Magistrate’s court.
Hodges is awaiting a bond hearing that should be held sometime today.
