SPRINGDALE POLICE ARREST MAN AFTER HE HID IN WOODS


Springdale, SC - On the morning of 3/23/2017 officers arrested a 23 year old man after he assaulted a woman and fled into a nearby wooded area where he hid.

The assault took place at Forestbrook Apartments on Platt Springs Rd. Officers were dispatched to the location for a domestic violence call. The man assaulted the victim and fled when she began calling 911. He fled into the wooded area behind the apartments.

Officers that were circulating in the area observed the man as he crossed over the dirt road, Lonely Dr and bedded down in the woods. Springdale officers and deputies with Lexington County Sheriff's Department set up a perimeter as they waited for K9 to respond. After several moments the man surrendered to officers.

The man had warrants out of the state of Oklahoma, the City of West Columbia, and Lexington County. Those warrants were for domestic violence 1st degree, kidnapping, domestic violence 3rd degree and a warrant for failure to pay. He was charged with domestic violence 3rd degree and possession of Marijuana by the Springdale Police Department. He was transported to Lexington Medical Center for an injury he sustained while running through the woods and was then transported to Lexington County Detention Center.
