Cedarfield Lane shed fire a close call for homeowners

Pine Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – A shed was destroyed just after midnight last night in a fire that could have been a disaster for the homeowner whose house was threatened by the fire. The call came in about 11:50 p.m. on Cedarfield Lane off Emanuel Church Road in the Pine Grove community.

Fire units from Pine Grove, Oak Grove, and South Congaree responded. Lexington County telecommunication operators were receiving calls on the blaze that was consuming the small, approximately 8’ x 10’, storage building. Callers were advising that the fire had spread and was threatening a porch, the home it was attached to, and other nearby structures.

Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they advanced their hoses, and made quick work of the fire. They quickly cleaned up, and were able to return to quarters.

The shed was a total loss. The county has not released any loss estimates and has not said if any of the other structures were damaged by the fire.
