Six people lose their home as Bush Berry Road home heavily damaged by fire
Pelion, SC – A home on Bush Berry Road near Pelion was heavily damaged by a fire Friday morning. The calls regarding the fire came in just before 7:00 a.m.
Callers reported that they could see flames and heavy smoke coming from the double-wide mobile home. When the first fire crews arrived on location, they found flames coming out of the front of the home in the area of the living room.
Firefighters pulled their hoses, and as more personnel arrived from other stations, they began their attack. Additional water tankers were dispatched because there are no fire hydrants in the area. This allowed the fire commander to establish a water shuttle operation that would provide the needed water for the fight.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. It was reported to be out before 8:00 a.m.
According to Harrison Cayhill, spokesman for Lexington County, six people were displaced because of the fire. A cat died in the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
