Man charged with attempted murder after West Columbia standoff
(West Columbia, S.C.) – The West Columbia Police Department has arrested Dominique Sligh, B/M 24 yoa, of 753 Center St. Apt. 3 West Columbia S.C. After a five hour standoff the suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Attempted Murder and Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.
The incident stemmed from an argument between Mr. Sligh and his girlfriend. They got into an altercation and Mr. Sligh fired six shots from a hand gun inside the residence. The female party fled the scene at that time. Officers arrived and Mr. Sligh would not respond to the officers.
SLED came out to assist our Department with additional resources. They deployed gas into the residence and the suspect then came out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect will be transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
