Sheriff releases name of man suspected of injuring LMC Public Safety Officer on the hospital campus
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the suspect they arrested this morning in regard to the incident that injured an LMC Public Safety Officer at the hospital’s main campus. In that incident, an officer was checking on a situation involving a car in a parking area when the car sped away, striking the officer. He was being treated for no-life threatening injuries.
According to Captain Adam Myrick, deputies arrested Stephen Johnson Craft after he initiated a pursuit following his refusal to stop for blue lights and siren. Craft, 38, got out of his car on Beckman Road and was arrested after a short foot chase. A warrant for his arrest on a charge of grand larceny had been issued earlier this month.
Craft, a Lexington County resident, was driving a car matching the description of the one involved in this morning’s incident with a Lexington Medical Center Department of Public Safety officer. The State Law Enforcement Division continues to investigate that event.
Craft appeared in bond court today at 3:00 p.m.
