Fort selected as 2017 PBS Digital Innovator
Ashley Fort, a second grade teacher at Batesburg-Leesville Primary School, has been selected as one of fifty-two 2017 PBS Digital Innovators. While receiving hundreds of applications from highly qualified educators from across the country, PBS selected Mrs. Fort to represent South Carolina as a PBS Digital Innovator.
Over the next year, Mrs. Fort will be among a prestigious group of top educators who will work with each other, with PBS, and with local PBS stations to grow professionally and share ideas for creating change in America’s classrooms.
The PBS Digital Innovator program is a professional development opportunity for highly engaged, changemaker PreK-12 educators whose innovative use of technology and media create exciting learning experiences for their students. Mrs. Fort and the other 51 Innovators, will attend the PBS Digital Innovators Summit in San Antonio, June 24-26, which includes a day pass to the ISTE Conference. This three-day, all-expenses covered session allows attendees to connect with fellow Innovators and learn from renowned education experts.
As a PBS Digital Innovator, Mrs. Fort and her fellow winners, will gain access to a like-minded community of peers across the country. Online and in person, PBS Digital Innovators have the opportunity to connect with each other and start conversations that enhance their practice and spark fresh ideas. PBS Digital Innovators engage not only with other educators who are selected for the program, but also with Digital Innovator alumni, and with the larger PBS Education community – a network of education thought-leaders who are changing the way we think about teaching and learning, and finding new ways to integrate technology and digital media into the learning experience.
Ashley is a 6th-year 2nd grade teacher in her 3rd year of teaching an English language immersion class. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood and Masters in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Instructional Technology and Digital Learning. She is a Common Sense Education Ambassador and EdTech Mentor, a Seesaw Ambassador, and an Osmo Ambassador. Additionally, at Lexington School District Three, she is a Technology Teacher Leader and STEAM Teacher Leader.
Congratulations to Mrs. Fort on being selected as a 2017 PBS Digital Innovator!
