Gaston PD traffic stop nets stolen car, drugs, and cash
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – On Wednesday, May 3rd, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Gaston police officers were on patrol in the town when they observed a vehicle in the 100 block of Woodtrail Drive that had been reported stolen out of Richland County by the sheriff’s department there. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and after running the driver’s information, found he had a suspended license.
Officers detained the man for driving under suspension 2nd offense. and being in possession of the stolen vehicle.
The officers then conducted a routine, legal search of the vehicle in conjunction with the stop. During that investigation, the officers found that the occupants of the car possessed approx. 27 grams of marijuana in 5 separate bags. They also had in their possession methamphetamine, Xanax pills, Psilocybin mushrooms, along with $880 in cash.
The suspects were transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where they were booked on a multitude of charges. They are awaiting a bond hearing on those charges that should be held today.
