PHMS singers wow judges
LEXINGTON, S.C. — Talented music students from Pleasant Hill Middle School wowed the judges at a recent state-level event.
The Eighth-Grade Chorus and Advanced Chorus groups performed at the South Carolina Music Educators Association Middle School Choral Performance Assessment on March 30. Each group performed two selections for judges and had to sight read for another judge.
Directed by A. Mickey Summerall, PHMS’s choral groups both received a superior rating.
Additionally, Eighth-Graders Kathryn D. Capili and Jackson L. McKelvey were accepted into the 2017 South Carolina American Choral Directors Association Middle School All-State Honor Choir. They’ll participate in the fall conference October 13–14, 2017, at Southern Wesleyan University.
