Pickup runs into pond on Ramblin Road Thursday night

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The driver of a pickup truck lost control on Ramblin Road near South Congaree Thursday night and ended up with the truck in a pond.

The driver didn’t appear to be seriously hurt, and no one was trapped in the vehicle when it went into the water around 11:00 p.m. There were rain storms moving through the area at about that time and the roads were slick because of the ponding water. Although law enforcement officers haven’t confirmed that the weather was a contributing factor, it is thought that these conditions may have caused the driver to lose control and go off the road.

The headlights of the pickup could be seen from the road as the truck rested in the pond’s water just above the top of its tires. There was only minor damage to the property where the pond is located.

Law enforcement officers have not released any further information regarding the crash and they have not said what, if any charges, the driver is facing.
