Lexington Students Thankful For Free Books

LEXINGTON, S.C. — It was a true “Thankful Thursday,” at Lexington Elementary School on April 20.

Fifth-graders received a free set of books for their classroom from Rise Up Foundation, a nonprofit that supports literacy efforts through book donations, classroom support and advocacy.

Thanks to the organization, fifth-graders will enjoy reading “Bud, Not Buddy” by Christopher Paul Curtis. In their International Baccalaureate study of self-expression, the novel will help them discover how one author is expressing the historical perspective of a young boy during the Great Depression.

Students were thrilled to receive this unexpected gift, and they are already eagerly reading.
