LCSD asks SLED to lead homicide investigation after reported shooting near Lexington High School

LEXINGTON, S.C. - At approximately 9:00 p.m. last night. Lexington County deputies, as well as EMTs and firefighters, were dispatched to the 100 block of Glasgo Lane in response to a reported gunshot wound. Once they arrived on the scene, they found a subject was deceased. This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.

Further investigation revealed that the person who was found dead, was a family member of a Lexington County Sheriff's Department employee.

Sheriff Jay Koon has asked SLED to lead the investigation to avoid any potential conflict of interest. The LCSD employee was not involved in the incident.

Glasco Lane is a small road that runs off Augusta Highway near the Lexington High School. It is also close to the new Lowe's Food Store that is being constructed and is almost completed.

Further information will be released regarding this homicide through SLED as it becomes available.
