Fire destroys mobile home on Goff Court off Charleston Highway early Monday

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – An early morning fire destroyed a mobile home off Goff Court in the pre-dawn hours of Monday. The fire was dispatched just after 4:30 a.m.Goff Court is close to the old Silver Lake recreational facility between Hwy. 321 south and I-26.

Firefighters arrived from the county’s Gaston fire station first and reported that the single-wide mobile home was fully involved in fire. Callers had already told the 911 operators that they believed that the structure was used just for storage and that no one was living in it.

Battalion 2 out of South Congaree arrived on the scene within minutes and assumed command of the fire. They reported that the firefighters had several lines on the ground and were dousing the flames from the exterior of the home.

The fire was brought under control quickly, but firefighters may be on the scene some time digging through the debris to make sure that all the hot spots are out, and that the fire is completely out.
