Five Lexington School District 1 students will compete in the USA Taekwondo National Championship

Lexington County, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – Five students from Lexington School District 1 are registered to compete in the USA Taekwondo National Championship in Detroit where they will compete with people from across the United States. They competed in the South Carolina State Taekwondo Championship on April 8, 2017 where they each qualified for nationals. The tournament will start on June 29 and go through July 6 and is estimated to have approximately 5,000 competitors.

The students take taekwondo at Southern Dragon Hapkido / TaeKwonDo under Master Randy Perry. They are pictured below and as following from left to right: Ricky Rhodes of Pelion High School, Cecilia Coler of White Knoll High School, Taylor Willard of White Knoll High School, Chessie Coler of Carolina Springs Middle School, and Michaela Willard of White Knoll High School.
