Christ Central celebrated 20 year anniversary at Mission Lake

Gaston, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - Christ Central Ministries celebrated their 20 year anniversary at Mission Lake on Saturday, May 20. Christ Central started in 1994 at a downtown prayer meeting when a man came asking for food. His request was met, more came, a great need was recognized, and the challenge was met. Twenty years later, numerous locations are meeting basic needs and offering education, community development, medical care, recovery, and volunteer opportunities, all with Jesus’s word in mind.

Mission Lake is Christ Central’s 1300 acre Wilderness Camp facility with three ponds and a 55 acre lake. There is a lodge with big screened-in porches and many outside picnic sheds. It is located at 545 State Pond Rd. in Gaston.

The celebration was organized by Pastor Jimmy Jones and open to anyone who could come. It began at 11:00 am and went on until 4:00 pm. Christ Central provided boats and canoes, so they encouraged people to bring fishing poles and bait with them for some great bass and bream fishing. There was a variety of event foods and barbecue.

During the day, many announcements were made about all that Central Christ has accomplished over the past 20 years and the things they have planned for the future. One project they are working on that is very important to them is their very first free mental health clinic. Christ Central has 20 years down, and they expect to continue their work with even more ambition.
