One dead, investigation underway in Red Bank shooting
Red Bank, S.C. (Paul Kirby) The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal shooting in the Red Bank area of the county. Deputies were called to a scene on Southampton Drive near the intersection of Two Notch Road around 5:00 pm Tuesday for a reported gunshot.
EMS, an EMS supervisor, and units from the fire service responded and provided care once the scene was secured by law enforcement. Eventually, the victim succumbed to the gunshot and has died.
Currently, crime scene investigators are on the scene along with major crime detectives. They are gathering evidence, processing the crime scene, and interviewing witnesses. Representatives of the Lexington County Coroner's Office are also on the scene assisting with the investigation as well.
The name of the victim has not been released at this point. That will be done by the coroner's office once the family has been notified of the death.
This is the third violent shooting to occur in Lexington County in the past 48 hours. Since Sunday night, a Leesville man, and a Swansea man have been arrested for shootings that involved some of their family members. Neither of those cases proved fatal. In both of these instances, arrests were made quickly.
