Suspect who escaped from PPP officer captured with assistance from West Columbia PD and LCSD

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – An officer from the SC State Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardons had a suspect escape from her during an arrest Wednesday while he was still wearing handcuffs. The suspect, described as a stocky black male, made his escape in the area of Brookland Baptist Church of Sunset Boulevard in the city.

According to Assistant Chief Scott Morrison of the West Columbia Police Department, the officer from PPP asked for assistance from their department after the man ran with his hands still cuffed behind his back. Apparently, the officer was dealing with other subjects on the scene when the suspect decided to make a break for freedom.

Lexington County deputies also responded to assist the officer in recovering her prisoner. One of them quickly located the suspect and took him back into custody.
