Phillips named to 2017 South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list

Lexington, SC - Dayne Phillips of the Michael Jeffcoat Law Firm in Lexington. has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine. Established in 1999, the Jeffcoat Firm has offices in Lexington and Columbia.

Mr. Phillips was selected in the 2017 South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. Earlier this year, Phillips was also named President-Elect of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Top 10 under 40 in South Carolina by The National Trial Lawyers.

The annual Super Lawyers list recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state to its Rising Stars list and each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. This patented multiphase selection process includes peer nominations, independent research, and evaluations by a panel of attorneys.

The mission of Super Lawyers is to create a credible, comprehensive, and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys to be used as a resource for both referring attorneys and consumers seeking legal counsel. The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazines and in leading city and regional magazines and newspapers across the country.

Phillips is a proud native of South Carolina. Born and raised in Lexington County, he graduated from Airport High School in 2003 and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010. As a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College, Phillips has successfully defended the accused in felony jury trials and has successfully argued before both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of South Carolina.

He is also the current State Delegate for the National College for DUI Defense and Eleventh Circuit Representative on the SC Bar House of Delegates. His cases have been featured in the SC Lawyers Weekly newspaper and he is frequently sought out by journalists for his opinions on criminal defense and appellate opinions. He has also lectured on various topics such as constitutional rights, motions practice, and preserving issues for appellate review.

In addition to these accolades, Phillips is the legal analyst for The Lexington Ledger Community News. In that capacity, Phillips regularly writes on current events that sometimes involved detailed legal matters. He also appears regularly on Good Morning Lexington County for a popular segment where he answers questions regarding an individual’s rights when interacting with law enforcement. He also regularly discusses common legal questions and the ins and outs of the law and how to stay on the right side of it.

Phillips was raised in the Pine Ridge area before moving to Lexington. He is married and he and his wife have one child.
