Freeman joins HR Office
LEXINGTON, S.C. — During the April 25, 2017 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the administration’s recommendation that Kimberly E. Freeman join Central Services’ Human Resources Office as Employee Development Facilitator.
Freeman currently teaches Latin to sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at Lexington Middle and to students from across the district virtually and serves as World Language Department Head at Lexington Middle School, yearbook co-sponsor, public relations coordinator, and a member of LMS’s School Leadership Team, the district’s World Language Leadership Team and Curriculum Writing Team, and Recruitment Fair Interview Teams.
With 13 years educational experience, Freeman began teaching in 2004 after graduating magna cum laude and earning a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education with a classical languages concentration from Furman University. She also earned a Master of Arts in educational administration from the University of South Carolina.
She holds certifications in Latin K–12 and administration K–8 and is highly qualified with Read to Succeed endorsement. She also serves as a Summative ADEPT Formal Evaluation for Teachers Evaluator, a Certified South Carolina Mentor and a Certified South Carolina Mentor Trainer.
An International Baccalaureate Middle Years certified teacher, she serves as a member of the American Classical League, American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages, National Junior Classical League, Palmetto State Teachers Association, South Carolina Foreign Language Teachers Association and the South Carolina Middle School Association.
Freeman won a 2016 Milken Educator Award and a 2007 Excellence Through the Classics Award from the American Classical League and was honored as Lexington District One’s District 2013–2014 Teacher of the Year and LMS’s 2012–2013 Teacher of the Year.
