Til Death Do Us Part – Murder Mystery Dinner Theater
You are invited to a wedding reception at Saluda Shoals’ River Center July 21
Irmo, SC - The Friends of the Irmo Branch Library expand their annual murder mystery dinner fundraiser this year by partnering with The Saluda Shoals Foundation and three local writers to present “Till Death Do Us Part,” an audience participatory evening of fun, live music and murder happening Friday, July 21.
Created by Columbia writers C. Grant and Licia Jackson and Larry Hembree, the murder mystery takes place at a wedding reception held at the River Center, located at Saluda Shoals Park. Hembree is directing the performance.
Event attendees, guests at the reception, will be entertained by over twenty local actors, musicians and other celebrities as the reception plays out and a murder is committed. Guests will have the opportunity to solve the mystery as the evening unwinds with great gifts for the keenest mystery solvers.
Friends of the Irmo Branch Library President Barbara Streeter says, “We are excited about expanding our event outside the walls of the library, where we have presented the event for the past three years.”
Hembree, part of the past leadership team at Trustus Theatre, Nickelodeon Theatre and now Columbia Children’s Theatre, and one of the event’s creators, insists, “Even though the fundraiser is co-sponsored by a library, it promises to deliver absolutely no literary merit!” Hembree continues, “It has been a blast creating roles with Grant and Licia Jackson for some of our strangest friends and colleagues who are literally dying to create some unforgettable characters.”
The event includes a buffet meal, cash bar and dancing to a live band. The reception starts at 6 p.m. and should end by 9 p.m. when the murderer is handcuffed and led away to the local jail. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased online at www.saludashoalsfoundation,org or www.icrc.net or in person at the Irmo Branch Library at 6251 St. Andrews Road. Wedding reception attire (Backwoods – Groom, High Society -- Bride) is optional. The event is for those 18 or older.
Both the Saluda Shoals Foundation and the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library are 501c(3) non-profit groups which support their respective organizations’ programming through financial assistance, volunteerism and community awareness.
