New manufacturing facility to locate in Lexington industrial area

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - A new manufacturing facility has plans to invest in the industrial area that borders I-20 just south of Lexington. According to county councilmembers, Electro-Spec, Inc. is planning to locate its new production operation in Lexington County. The investment they are making is expected to bring approximately $3.1 million of capital investment and create 53 new, well-paying jobs. Capital investment is usually thought of as buildings, facility modifications, specialty equipment, etc. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a $100,000 Closing Fund grant to Lexington County to assist with the costs of building modifications. These types of sources are regularly sought out to assist in attracting industry to our county.

According to their website, Electro-Spec is an industry-leading provider of gold, silver, nickel, copper and Tri-M3â„¢ (tri-alloy) electroplating. They serve the aerospace, medical, telecommunications, and automotive industries. The company also provides heat treating and passivating services, which removes impurities from parts and provides resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Additionally, the website says that they are continually recognized as one of the leading specialty plating facilities in the United States. They have a customer base from North America to Asia and Europe.

In Lexington County, Electro-Spec will be locating their new operations in a 10,000-square-foot existing building which is located at 307 Industrial Drive in Lexington. This is near the intersection of Industrial and Zenker Road across from Epting Distributers.
