Fire service dispatched to fire Saturday described as “on the ground” on arrival
Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) – A structure fire that was dispatched Saturday afternoon just after 4:30 p.m. between Fairview and Pelion was reported as "basically on the ground" when the first fire crews arrived. The structure was located at the intersection of Calks Ferry and James Dunbar Road just north of the town of Pelion.
Equipment and manpower from Fairview, Boiling Springs, Pelion, Sharpe’s Hill, South Congaree, and other stations responded to the fire. Water tankers were used to carry water as firefighters wet down the flames. Other special equipment, like the fire service’s personnel rehab truck, also was requested by the on scene commander. It took the firefighters less than an hour to bring the fire under control.
The structure is being considered a total loss. The exact cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
