Pond Branch TBOC organizing their first National Night Out event
Pond Branch, SC (Paul Kirby) The Pond Branch TBOC Crime Watch organization is working to put together their first annual National Night Out event. In order to make theirs successful, they have agreed to partner with the Whiskey Road group, a neighborhood watch with more than 25 years of experience.
The Pond Branch group was formed back in the spring of this year after area residents along Pond Branch and Neely Wingard Roads became frustrated about an increase in crimes in their area. The group got in touch with the sheriff’s department, got organized, elected a chairperson, and began to make a difference in their community.
Crystal Munn was elected to chair the group. She says that they are all looking forward to getting together with their neighbors to enjoy some food, fellowship, and share ideas in the process. They already have a commitment of some bouncy houses, food, cold drinks, and other games like cornhole and horseshoes. They are also working to get together some door prizes that will make the event a better draw.
The National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, from 7:00 until 10:00 p.m. It will be held at The Grove, a large venue and pecan orchard at 2852 Neely Wingard Road, Leesville, SC. This is between Pond Branch Road and Fairview Highway.
The group still needs donations of baked goods, drinks like sodas and water, prizes for goody bags and door prizes, other giveaway items like gift certificates, hats, t-shirts, and other new items that any business could offer, and other games that will allow children to play and enjoy themselves. They also need someone willing to engrave names and serial numbers on trailers and ATVs if you happen to have an engraver that works on metal.
