BLHS Works to Grow Teacher Cadet Program

Batesburg-Leesville, SC - More B-L students will be introduced to the field of education during the 2017-2018 school year due to the growing Teacher Cadet program at the high school. Last year, three students (pictured here) took part in the course. That number is expected to increase to around 15 students during the new school year.

The Teacher Cadet program, which was piloted in South Carolina more than thirty years ago, encourages high school students with at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) to consider teaching as a future profession.

Participating students are given the opportunity to learn about all aspects of public education and even complete an internship at one of the Lexington District 3 schools. In addition, students are taught invaluable leadership skills that will serve them throughout life.

For more information about the Teacher Cadet program, visit www.teachercadets.com.
