Breaking News: Mobile home burning near Pelion

Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) A double-wide mobile home is burning in the Pelion area this morning. The fire was dispatched at approximately 6:00 a.m., and when the first units arrived from the fire service they reported that the home was fully involved in fire.

The caller told 911 dispatchers that the fire was in the 600 block of Bub Shumpert Rd. just north of the town of Pelion. This is close to the intersection of Hartley Quarter Rd.

Units from a number of fire stations are enroute or on the scene. This includes firefighters and trucks from Pelion, Fairview, Mack Edisto, Sharpe’s Hill, Edmund, South Congaree, Boiling Springs, and other stations. The amount of equipment is due to the fact that the area doesn’t have fire hydrants and water has to be brought in by tanker trucks. Deputies and an EMS crew are also on the scene. The fire service has also requested Mid-Carolina Electric to respond to deal with the electrical lines that were connected to the home.
