Coroner identifies victim of I-20 wreck as Gilbert man

Lexington, SC - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died due to a single-vehicle accident on August 10, 2017 at approximately 3:30 a.m.on I-20 near mile marker 51 in Lexington County.

According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Carlos Hipolito, 22, of Gilbert was killed when his vehicle left the roadway, struck the cable in the median, and overturned. Mr. Hipolito, who was not wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred, died at the scene due to traumatic injuries sustained upon ejection.

An investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol is ongoing.
