Springdale PD assisting coroner with investigation at Forestbrook apartments

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) The Springdale PD is assisting the Lexington County Coroner’s Office with an investigation into a death at the Forestbrook Apartments in the town. Forestbrook is at the intersection of Shadblow Lane and Platt Springs Road in the heart of the town.

According to Police Chief Kevin Cornett, his department responded to the scene of a death at that location. The coroner was notified and they have responded also. Cornett said in an e-mail, “The area is safe and there are no public safety concerns at the apartment complex, or in the Springdale area in connection with this incident.” He also said that information was still extremely limited and his department had no more that they could release at this time.

These types of investigations do not always mean that some act of violence has been perpetrated by one person against another. Although violent behavior could be one reason that this type of investigation is begun, there could be other reasons such as a suicide or drug death that would cause the police and the coroner to look further into the cause of death. The community is asked not to jump to any conclusions until investigators have had time to fully review the case.
