Springdale arrest trio on multiple drug and firearms charges
Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) Springdale police officers have arrested a trio that was staying at a local hotel. They have been booked into the detention center on multiple charges that included auto theft and drug possession.
On the morning of August 17th, a woman and another friend drove from the motel to a local convenience store in a stolen car she and her companions were in possession of. When she returned to the motel, an officer from the Springdale P.D. was patrolling and observing the area around the motel as a part of the officer’s routine duties. The woman spotted the officer and waved. That officer returned the gesture, but something the suspects were doing aroused the officer’s suspicions. The officer ran the tags on the car and it came back as stolen.
After backup arrived, the officers approached the room where the women from the car were staying with a man and requested that they be allowed to enter the room to speak with the group. After the trio thought they had hidden all the drugs and paraphernalia, the group let the officers in. Unfortunately, they failed to successfully hide a methamphetamine pipe that was in plain sight in their room. They also clearly had powder in their noses that the officers suspected was drugs. The officers asked if they could search the room and the suspects consented.
During the search, officers located methamphetamine, ecstasy, marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and a gun. The person who the officer observed driving the car earlier could not, or would not, identify herself. All three were placed under arrest.
The three were arrested and have been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of ecstasy, and possession of schedule 4 narcotics. They were also charged with felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition, possession of marijuana, and identity fraud.
