Motorcyclist who wrecked last week has died

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A motorcyclist has died from injuries he received in a crash several weeks ago. According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the motorcyclist crashed his bike on August 15, 2017 at approximately 10:00 P.M. The accident occurred on West Dunbar Road near Cedar Lane Parkway in Lexington County near the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and South Congaree.

Fisher said that William C. Schoen, Jr., 27, of Lexington died at Palmetto Health Richland hospital on August 20, 2017 as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident. Apparently, Schoen was traveling west on West Dunbar Road when his motorcycle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a culvert. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was investigating the accident.
