West Columbia man arrested on internet sex charges

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) South Carolina’s Attorney General Alan Wilson says that his office's work, along with the help of other agencies, has resulted in the arrest of Jose Francisco Garcia, 45, of West Columbia. Garcia was arrested on Aug. 17 and charged with one count of disseminating obscene material to a person twelve years of age or younger. The charge is a felony offense, and is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators, along with deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Garcia. They had the assistance of investigators with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, a members of the North Florida ICAC Task Force.

Investigators say that Garcia sent a nude image over social media to the minor victim.

The case will be prosecuted by the SC Attorney General's Office.
