DNR confirms fatal boating accident on Lake Murray
Lake Murray, SC (Paul Kirby) - Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating what they have now said to be a fatal boating accident on Lake Murray. This incident occurred on Friday evening on the Lexington Side of the lake.
A person who lives in the area found a young child, alone in a boat, while on the lake. That individual notified emergency services. The first responders began their search at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Water rescue crews from the Lexington County Fire Service, the SCDNR and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department searched the surrounding area of the lake and land. The DNR helicopter equipped with FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) technology also joined the search.
Although no details have been confirmed regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident, the DNR is treating this as a fatality.
