Red Bank mobile home destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – A single-wide mobile home was destroyed by fire just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported to be on Pinestraw Circle off Emmanuel Church Road near where it intersects with Two Notch Road.

Fire service units that were enroute reported seeing a column of black smoke in the sky from some distance away. When the first unit arrived on the scene from Pine Grove, they advised that they had a single-wide that was 90 percent involved in fire.

More teams arrived on location from Lexington, Oak Grove, and Red Bank and the firefighters began attacking the fire from the exterior. A water supply was established, and the Captain off Tower 10 assumed command of the scene. The power company was requested because the fire had burned the wires supplying the house, causing them to fall.

One of the battalion chiefs arrived on location and command was turned over to him. A duty officer began to monitor the radio channel in case another emergency was dispatched while the units were committed on Pinestraw.

The fire was brought under control quickly, but firefighters remained on the scene for several more hours mopping up the fire, cleaning, and picking up their equipment. The fire was declared officially under control just before 3:00 and units cleared the fire about 3:26 p.m.

The Red Cross was notified to assist the people that were displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
