Batesburg-Leesville mayor reschedules council meeting due to Hurricane Irma

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – Mayor Marguerite “Rita” Crapps of the town of Batesburg-Leesville, SC has issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in the town. Effectively, that order allows her to cancel the scheduled council meeting that was to be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, and reschedule that meeting for the following Monday, September 18, 2017. If Irma makes landfall in SC, it is predicted that will happen on September 11th. The order says that cancelling the meeting will allow the town’s small staff to prepare for the storm and its effect on the town, rather than prepare for the meeting.
