Lexington Two hires public information officer

West Columbia, SC - Lexington School District Two this week announced the hiring of a Public Information Officer.

The district’s Board of Trustees approved the selection of Dawn Kujawa for the new role at its regular August 24 meeting, on the recommendation of Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. William B. James Jr.

Prior to joining the school district, Kujawa worked as an editor at The State newspaper, supervising teams of reporters through the years covering a range of topics including arts and entertainment, K-12 education, county government, and faith and community organizations. She worked in other newspaper departments as well, including advertising, marketing and the publisher’s office. She started her career at The Augusta Chronicle. Kujawa is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

“With the opening of Cayce Elementary this fall, and another elementary school and the Lexington Two Innovation Center slated for next year, we’ve got a lot of great things happening here,” Kujawa said. “I feel so fortunate to be part of this dynamic team.”

Lexington Two is home to more than 8,800 students in 16 schools in Cayce, Pine Ridge, South Congaree, Springdale and West Columbia.
