Child find services available in Lexington District Three
Batesburg-Leesville - In order to plan for the educational needs of all children with disabilities residing in Lexington School District Three, we must first identify them. Children with the following types of categories of disabilities are eligible for services in public school programs: preschool child with a disability, mental disability, specific learning disability, emotional disability, speech and/or language impairment, deafness and hearing impairment, visual impairment, deaf-blindness, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, traumatic brain injury, autism, and multiple disabilities.
Under federal law, all children with disabilities, birth through twenty-one years of age, must be located, identified and evaluated. We would appreciate your assistance in referring any child whom you suspect may have a disability. In keeping with South Carolina statutes requiring public schools to provide appropriate educational programs/services for all disabled children, the Lexington County School District Three staff will be conducting a screening clinic for preschool-aged children who reside in the district on Friday, September 29th at Batesburg-Leesville Primary School. Please call Lexington School District Three’s Special Services Department at 532-8005 to schedule an appointment.
