Car crash on Crystal Springs Drive near Noah Lucas critically injures at least one Friday night

Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) A car crash seriously injured at least one occupant of the vehicle involved on Crystal Springs Dr. near Beecliff Lane and Noah Lucas Roads about 10:00 p.m. Friday night. According to witnesses who were on the scene, one person was thrown from the car as it crashed. That individual was lying in the road, critically injured, when the first motorist arrived on the scene and stopped to render aid.

Callers to the county's 911 center told dispatchers that there was at least one person ejected from the car during the crash. They also reported that at least one might still be trapped in the wreckage.

Units from Lexington County EMS, fire, and law enforcement responded from multiple stations across southern Lexington County. The battalion chief for the south region out of South Congaree also responded. When the first fire units arrived, they reported that someone had already started performing CPR on one of the people injured in the accident.

For some time, the law enforcement officers blocked Crystal Springs Dr. from traffic as the first responders worked on the scene. Motorists reported that they had to turn around and follow a detour to proceed in either direction during that time. The last unit from the fire service didn’t clear the scene until after 12:10 a.m. At that time, troopers were still on the scene of the crash.

There are little or no details available at this point. The details we do have, are coming in form witnesses and other motorist that are on the scene of the crash. We have no information regarding the condition of anyone treated on the scene or transported to local hospitals. State troopers were on the scene investigating the crash and other emergency responders were working at the location of the crash for some time.

We will update this story as we learn more regarding the crash, its cause, and the condition of the people involved.
