Lexington County Sheriff Koon completes FBI executive training

Lexington, SC - Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon graduated from the 40th session of the FBI’s National Executive Institute last week.

More than 40 senior law enforcement leaders from across the United States and around the world attended the class.

The National Executive Institute is the FBI’s premier executive training initiative. For more than three decades, NEI has provided leadership development for FBI executives and the heads of the largest law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and overseas.

“I was honored to be selected by the FBI to attend and to represent South Carolina in this year’s session,” Koon said. “The training helped me gained valuable insights on how to better serve the citizens of Lexington County as well as to network with law enforcement executives across the U.S. and from around the world.”

The NEI consists of three weeklong sessions each year. The focus of the training is strategic leadership development and current affairs. Attendees typically oversee departments with more than 500 employees serving a population of 250,000 or more.
