Another fatal fire claims one near Lexington High School early Monday morning

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) Another person has perished in a fire in Lexington County in the last two days. According to a spokesman for Lexington County, the second deadly fire occurred in the 100 block of Richmond Farms Circle, which is west of Lexington. The fire was reported at approximately 4 a.m. Monday morning.

According to the fire service, approximately 75% of the home was involved in fire when their first unit arrived from the Lake Murray Fire Station. It took them about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control with the help of personnel and equipment from other stations. .

Firefighters did have fire hydrants in the area. This helps them supply a sustained water flow that is quicker and much more effective than using tankers for water. Even so, the fire service spokesman says that the home is being considered a total loss.

As is standard procedure, SLED has been called in to investigate the fire because of the fatality. The coroner’s office is also on the scene to determine the exact cause of death of the deceased individual.

There was another fatal fire off Hubbs Rd near Sandy Run Sunday afternoon. The coroner’s office and SLED are also looking into the cause of that fire.
