Motorcyclist who died on South Lake identified

Red Bank, SC - Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the 1800 block of South Lake Drive in the Red Bank area just before 4:00 PM on October 3, 2017. According to Coroner Fisher, Mr. Thomas L. Merritt, Jr., 62, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle while making a left turn on his motorcycle.

Mr. Merritt was not wearing a helmet when the incident occurred. The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway , SC
