LMES says ‘moo’ to World School Milk Day

Lexington, SC - Students and staff dressed up as cows of all sizes at Lake Murray Elementary on Wednesday, September 27, in celebration of World School Milk Day.

The younger “cows” learned about the importance of drinking milk as part of a healthy and balanced diet. They especially enjoyed seeing LMES food service and nutrition staff decked out in their best black and white spots.

Schools have celebrated World School Milk Day since 2000. Promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the annual event is held around the world to recognize the importance of milk as a global food.

LMES food service and nutrition staff promoted World School Milk Day through posters and decorations throughout the cafeteria, in addition to inviting teachers to discuss the topic with their students.
